Friendships formed through different languages
Franco, a much-loved resident at Westhill Park, is of Italian descent and often likes to communicate with two of our carers, Loredana and Costina in Italian. Lorendana and Costina, who are mother and daughter, speak fluent Italian and as soon as they met Franco began to talk with him in his native language to make him feel at home.
It’s wonderful to have carers within our home that can communicate with our residents in different ways and build such special bonds.
Costina said, “We have a really great friendship with Franco. It’s fantastic to be able to have lots of great conversations with him in Italian, a language we all love.”
