Following the successful Christmas Fayre held at Kingfisher Court in Sutton on Saturday 8th December, all proceeds were donated to the children’s ward at King’s Mill Hospital. Residents, their friends and family and members of the community all came and enjoyed the special day. Father Christmas with his very own grotto spent time with and managed to give presents to over 25 children who came along for their special meeting with Santa. Seeing the smiles and delight that this brought to the children it seemed an obvious choice that all proceeds raised from the event should go to the Children’s ward at the Hospital.
Over £300 was raised on the day and when we contacted Nicola Armstrong, the Play Specialist on ward 25 for advice on what would provide the most enjoyment to all the children she quickly confirmed that Disney DVDs brought a lot of joy to the children and their families and it would be wonderful if we could donate a few.
That afternoon Claire Adsetts, Service & Relationship Manager and Neelie Marsh, Lifestyle Manager went on a spending spree and managed to buy 57 children’s DVD’s. Arrangements were made with Nicola at the hospital to present the ward with the gifts. Upon arrival, Nicola kindly presented Kingfisher Court with a certificate of thanks followed by a photo shoot with the team by the hospital’s photographer as a good news story for their NHS Newsletter.
The certificate has now taken pride of place on the reception at Kingfisher Court where visitors comment and talk fondly of the great work done at King’s Mill.
