Great importance is placed on ensuring our delicious, home-cooked food is nutritiously balanced and well-presented.
Our kitchen staff work closely with local suppliers to obtain the best produce and ingredients where available. We do appreciate our residents’ requirements can differ, so our teams are trained to support specific needs and dietary requirements. If this is applicable to your loved one, we will be happy to provide further information.
We know that staying hydrated throughout the day is vital to our residents’ health, so hot and cold drinks are always available and residents are regularly prompted. Our Dining Hosts and Care staff will continuously ensure your intake is being monitored and recorded. We are very mindful of the implications that a lack of fluid, or even too much fluid, can have and therefore we do take preventative measures to avoid such implications from occurring.
To ensure that dining remains a fun and sociable activity, we also provide food events throughout the year, ranging from pop-up restaurants, themed nights, special occasions such as Christmas and Easter and, of course, a good birthday party. Where possible we try to involve family and friends with this as much as we can.
Here at Oakdale we believe it is important to support local producers where possible. There are many positive reasons for this because, not only does it help our local economy, it provides us with better quality and taste, reduces plastic packaging being used, helps protect the local countryside and ensures we can keep our menus in tune with season changes. Please see below a sample of the local suppliers we continue to support.
Woodthorpe Grange Farm is a family run, local farm producing fresh bottled milk. The farm is less than 11 miles from Kingfisher Court, so we are guaranteed fresh quality milk to our doorstop within hours of being collected and processed. The farm first attracted our interest due to the great care they take in ensuring their milk retains its goodness. The milk is pasteurised just hours after the cows are milked, ensuring it retains its vital nutrients like calcium, vitamins, healthy fats, minerals and iron, as well as that fresh taste so enjoyed by our residents.
Bridget B’s is just a short distance away from Layston Grove. The livestock from the family’s farm is award winning, with the cows and sheep being exhibited at the largest agricultural shows in the UK. The proximity to the home means we can receive fantastic, fresh meat to our door, ready to be cooked and served for our residents.
